WHAT’S HAPPENING AT EPBC…
I am delighted to see some good weather, some fine Elmwood Park greens, and some great results.
RECORDING.

Murray covers the men and A/C events while Mary Ann covers the women, U5s and O60s events.

The executive and others have noticed that the clear rules about smoking/vaping areas are very often not complied with. These club rules are re-emphasised for Bowls Canterbury events in their rules. Please ensure that these rules are observed.

BOWLS CANTERBURY RESULTS.

In interclub events, most of our teams are performing very well with some leading their divisions, and we have a large number of players taking part. Our premier women’s team is way out in front at present, following on from their win in the last season post-Christmas championship. Our premier men’s team is running a clear second to Belfast, which has yet to drop a game. The big contest between them will be this Saturday morning, 23rd November, at Elmwood Park and will be well worth watching.
Many thanks to our hard-working selectors.

SELECTORS’ FORMS.
Very soon, all club members will receive the forms to be completed and returned by Saturday 14th December for the post-Christmas Bowls Canterbury events. Please make it a priority to help the club and selectors by promptlyfilling out the forms and putting them in the relevant selectors’ trays in the clubroom. By putting your name down to play, remember you have made a commitment to do so!

Thanks so much to our hard-working greens’ staff of Kelvin (greenkeeper) and Don (greens’ superintendent). It is such a pleasure to play on such great greens. No.2 Green is looking really good with the surrounds etc vastly improved. Many thanks to Tim, Don and Kelvin for overseeing this work.

UNDER 5 EVENTS.

We have 3 teams playing on Saturdays and 3 teams playing on Thursday nights, and their club championship games are well under way. Many thanks to Phil Smith, supported by our club captain, Jamie Wagner, for their magnificent efforts in this area. Well done to all for their great interclub results.

We are now in the very busy season for functions and David Fairlie is calling out for help from volunteers. Please put your hand up if you can when David puts out a request and please don’t leave the volunteering to just the usual few, often those who are volunteering already in many ways.

CATERING/BAR.

Many thanks to our club manager, David Fairlie, for his great work in so many ways including the provision of food on Friday club nights and Saturday lunchtimes. Thanks also to our great catering volunteers for their work in this area and to our great bar volunteers.

Our club, like all incorporated societies, needs to pass an entirely new constitution because of new requirements in the 1ncorporated societies act.
Very hard work behind the scenes is being done by our legal eagles Chris Littlewood and myself, together with Mike Stewart, and we are getting close to a draft to go first to the executive and then to club members before a SGM will be called early next year. Incidentally, our last constitution was 2009 with Mike and myself being fully involved in that!
.

Best wishes to those in post-section this coming Sunday. Our three women’s teams have all qualified and will be playing at Burnside (Skips Bev, Pam R and Kim), while the men’s teams skipped by Lance Pascoe and Paul McKinnel have also qualified for post-section and will be playing at Bowls Hornby.

ADVANCE NOTICE.
Please note that our Christmas function is on Saturday 14th December. More details to follow.
Good bowling.
And thanks to all the sponsors beneath.
