What’s happening at EPBC?

BINGO/HOUSE EVENING.
This event on Saturday 24th February was a great success! The club’s thanks go to Fiona Frew, our social convenor on the executive, her able assistant, Joyce McKinnel and all the other helpers with the event. There were over 50 club members, family and friends who turned up and from all accounts everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves and are requesting more of the same !! (watch this space). And well done to Dale Johnstone who had rather a good weekend with not only winning the major cash
prize on the night, but then successfully supporting his beloved Scotland later on as they comprehensively beat England in the Six Nations.
BOWLS CANTERBURY FINALS DAY.
This will be held at the Papanui Club on Sunday 3rd March.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS.
Congratulations to the men’s triples team of Glen Porter (s), Bryan Burke and Seddon Jury which won the club title recently beating Jonathan Flint’s team twice to do so. so.
The final of the U5 Men’s Singles will be played this Saturday at 1.30 p.m. at the Club between new bowler Phil Smith and Mitch Wallace.
NO.2 GREEN.
The executive has decided to spend money on a substantial upgrade of No. 2 Green and its surrounds and has asked Tim Sandrey to liaise with other club members/stakeholders to come up with a plan for the executive to consider/approve. As well, Tim and his team are now working on arrangements to tidy up the surrounds, remove rubbish etc.
HARCOURTS CORPORATE EVENT.
Last Friday, Harcourts ran a very successful and very large corporate event at our club. There were a number of great organisers/helpers from the club on the day and thanks to all concerned. Harcourts were delighted with the day and have told the club that they will be back.
GREENKEEPING.
The club has been very fortunate indeed to have Steve Street as our temporary greenkeeper in recent times. Thanks so much Steve. It is great to now have the excellent greens, thanks to Steve, Don and Kelvin.
The club, supported by green superintendent Don Baker, has decided to appoint Kelvin Scott at Greenkeeper, subject to contractual terms, from the beginning of April. Steve’s contract will conclude then. The club members will have no doubt seen Kelvin very busy already on the greens(and elsewhere) in recent times. Kelvin will have the support, arranged by the club, of not only Don but also the excellent Burnside greenkeeper, Jamie Ferris, as a mentor for the first 12 months.
The club is very much looking forward to having Kelvin on board as greenkeeper.

the situation.
