Opening Day.

25 – 9 – 21

Over 50 members turned up for opening day  The opening was attended by Bowls Canterbury president Na Katae who wished the club the best for the upcoming season. He also gave out out some certificates to various winning teams from the previous season.

It would be pertinent to remind ourselves of the tremendous success the Elmwood Park Club had throughout the previous season.
* Men’s 7s who won Division 1 and qualified for the national interclub sevens.
* Men’s 7s team who then went on to win the National Sevens title.
* The women’s 8s who won division one. * The premier men’s Watson Shield team who won the final
* The O60s fours team of  Bev Morel, Pam Rowley, Ray Hooper and Bruce Humphreys who won their.
* Mandy Boyd who won the Centre singles.
* Bev Morel and Sherrie Cottle won the  Centre pairs final.

* Mandy Boyd, Sheryl McLean and Angela Boyd who won the Centre triples final.
* The performances of Lance Pascoe and Mandy Boyd to win national titles and be runners up also.

What a list of successes. This will be a hard act to follow. This season will be eagerly anticipated.

Presentations were also made to the successful indoor bowlers who had their season cut short due to covid and were unable to have a final function to present the prizes.

Keeping with tradition, patron John Elley puts up the first bowl of the season.

Time to eat. A wonderful way to get ready for the bowls. A lovely meal too.

Cooks in action!!!

Time to begin. It was good to get on the green again but the wind made it extremely difficult.
